Despite its vast size and abundance of internet service options, small businesses in London are also eligible for the Super Connected Cities program under Boris Johnson’s vision for a deeply connected city.

The Greater London Authority has access to funds totalling £25m from the Department for Culture, Media, and Sport (DCMS). Under the scheme, businesses and organisations that are eligible can receive ultra-fast broadband vouchers for as much as £3,000. The scheme is also developing Wi-Fi hotspots through public buildings.

By expanding superfast broadband to as many small businesses as possible, London hopes to improve the overall economy with new technology like the cloud. Businesses that apply for the vouchers can expect to acquire broadband speeds of about 30Mbps.
